Cognitive Reserve is a one-person company founded by Andrii Babak. It takes personal data — where your time goes, where your money goes, where your attention goes — out of the apps that hold it and puts it onto analog objects you can hold, glance at, and keep. Objects are made in short, numbered runs.

## Who it is for

People who work with their minds — builders, founders, makers — who feel their days being spent for them rather than by them. Ambitious enough to want more from a life, awake enough to notice that more output isn't it.

## The argument

- **The drift.** For a decade, algorithms decided what we watch, read, buy and want. We called it convenience and stopped noticing. Now AI shapes something deeper than behaviour: it does the thinking. We ask, it answers, we accept. The habit forms quietly — less judgment of our own, more trust in a system we didn't build and can't inspect.
- **What's at stake.** Nobody is coming to fix this. The economics run the other way: your attention is the product, and every default is set by someone whose interests aren't yours. Left alone, a life becomes an assembly of those defaults.
- **The answer.** Not rejecting the digital — nostalgia is not a strategy, and AI is too valuable to refuse. The answer is a thinking layer between you and the machine: deliberate, visible, yours.
- **The objects.** Digital where it's useful. Analog where it matters. No battery anxiety, no feed, no update that quietly changes what you're looking at.

## Sovereign leadership, defined

Four terms, all of which should belong to the person, not the software:

1. **In charge** — you make the decisions, not the algorithm, the feed, or the AI.
2. **On your own terms** — you build your days the way you decide, and the tools bend to you.
3. **A proper relationship with the digital** — phones, messages, social media and AI serve and enhance you, never the other way around.
4. **Resilient** — a life you can steer through change, because it runs on your judgment, not on someone else's defaults.

The result is meaning and fulfillment: days you would choose again.

## Operating principles

## Founder

Andrii Babak. Over 15 years in business, product and engineering. Has been head of product and director of engineering at large companies, founded several companies of his own — one backed by outside investment — and ran a software outsourcing business that delivered dozens of client projects. Today he works at a product company and builds Cognitive Reserve.

In his words: he is not building this because he spotted a gap in a market, but because he wants the authority, the responsibility and the ownership to sit in the same pair of hands. For most of his career he has been building the systems other people spend their days inside; this company is about giving those days back.
